BIO

The Reader

As a child, I devoured books. Favourites included The Narnia Chronicles, The Great Brain Series, The Bruno and Boots books by Gordon Korman and The Call of the Wild by Jack London.

The Writer

I had my first newspaper column at the age of 13. I also created fake newspapers filled with stories for my class at school, and it was one of those stories, that involved a gun and a renegade student, that was the first official time I was criticized for getting my facts wrong. My love of writing prompted me to study journalism in College.

The Traveler

After high school I traveled to Europe, and spent time living in Austria, Germany, Sweden and Ireland. I experienced the collapse of the Berlin Wall, and went through Checkpoint Charlie. I have traveled to over 25 countries on four continents, including Japan, Indonesia, Tunisia, Costa Rica and have been to more than 20 states in the U.S.A., including Alaska.

The Educator

My college and university studies included communication theory and business courses. I graduated from Columbia College and spent several years working in the education field. My experience includes working in a kindergarten class, doing early intervention work with special needs students and working with children with developmental and behavioral problems.

The Wife

I am married to a wonderful American man. We have two dogs and too many cats to mention.

CROSSING JORDAN featured in The Dame Was Trouble anthology by Coffin Hop Press

“Crossing Jordan by Sandra Ruttan doesn’t feature murder or a shoot-out but does get us inside the head of a trans sex worker as she tries to unsuccessfully kill herself. But it’s not just A Man Called Ove done up in high heels.  It is a story of persistence and strength in the face of misunderstanding, rejection, and violence. A story that will stick with me.”
